Ring Line

The Ring line will be an important transversal rail connection that connects Vantaankoski line to the main line. Operation on the Ring line will begin in the year 2014.

The Ring line is an important part of the city track network in the metropolitan area and it will improve the offer of public transport services in the entire region. The line will connect the residential areas of the region with the areas of employment and at the same time it constitutes a rail connection to the international airport of Helsinki-Vantaa.

The trains operating on the Ring line will be new Sm5 low-floor trains designed for city traffic and they will run at an interval of 10 minutes in both directions during rush hours. The travel time from Helsinki to the airport takes half an hour. The maximum design speed of the track is 120 km/h.

Air passengers coming to the airport from the north will change from inter-city trains to trains of the Ring line in Tikkurila from where the travel time to the airport is eight minutes.
